Beverly A. (Henderson) Powell

FARRELL-Beverly Ann Powell (formerly Beverly Henderson) died on May 16, 2016 at UPMC Horizon Hospital in Greenville, PA. She was 65 years old. 

Mrs. Powell was born on November 10, 1950 in Sharon to William and Gussie Wilson Henderson and resided in Farrell, PA.

Beverly attended Farrell Schools and after graduation in 1969 enrolled in Point Park College, Pittsburgh, PA.  She graduated from Point Park College in 1972 and went on to teach at the Farrell Elementary School for 34 years.

She was a member of the Second Missionary Baptist Church, the Ashanti Women’s Social Club for thirty-five years, and participated in Vacation Bible School and weekly Bible group at the church.

Mrs. Powell married the love of her life, Edward Powell Sr. in 1984.He preceded her in death in January 2016. The couple made Farrell their home and there they raised their son, Edward H. Powell.

She was a loyal Pittsburgh Steeler fan and had a passion for reading and playing computer word games.

Beverly was dearly loved by her son, Eddy, siblings, Vanessa Henderson of Charlotte, North Carolina and Todd Henderson, of Bakersfield, California, Uncle Surrender Wilson of Farrell, PA along with multiple nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and by her sister Kay Henderson Lacey in October of 2014. 

Funeral Services for Beverly will be held beginning at 11:00AM on Saturday, May 21, 2016 at the Second Missionary Baptist Church 1138 Spearman Ave. Farrell, Pa 16121 with the Rev. Forest Underwood officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the start of the services.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Sample-O’Donnell Funeral Home in Sharon.
