BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA-Dr. John Stucka Jr., a beloved physician, engineer and family man, died April 20, 2026. A resident of Boynton Beach, Fla., he was 82.

He was born in New Jersey, which became a key part of his lifelong sense of humor. He’d love to cackle like a witch for children, or to discuss trivia around American currency. He lived to share his wisdom and knowledge from an unusually broad education.

He received both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in electrical engineering at what was then the Newark College of Engineering, worked as a programmer at IBM, then became a doctor of osteopathy at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. His background helped pioneer understanding around one of the earliest MRI machines at Michigan State University. He later worked as an instructor and as a radiologist in places as varied as Chicago; Joplin, Mo.; and Grove, Okla. His career led him to specialize in mammography.

Survivors include his brother, Theodore; a sister, Tanya; sons John III and Michael; a daughter-in-law, Suzana Vieira Stucka; and grandchildren Isabella Kathryn and Alexander Joseph Stucka.

A visitation will be from 10:00AM until Noon on Wednesday, April 29, at Sample-O'Donnell Funeral Home, 555 E. State St., Sharon, PA.

Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery, 600 N Oakland Ave, Sharon, PA. He will be buried beside his beloved wife, Kathryn Jane (Skinner) Stucka, who preceded him in death in 1994.
