Geraldine H Thomas formerly of Hermitage, passed away on Saturday February 24, 2018 at her home in Bradenton, FL. She was 95 years old.
She was born in Sharon on March 17, 1922, to the late Joseph and Anna (Campbell) Carroll. Following her graduation from high school she married her sweetheart the Wayne E. Thomas on September 20, 1941. Together they would go on to share nearly fifty-eight years of marriage before his passing in 1999.
Gerry worked for many years with children as a preschool teacher for Mrs. Fitzgerald’s Preschool and with the Hermitage School District through MCAR as an aid.
Mrs. Thomas was a devoted member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ for more than eighty-years where taught nursery school, been a choir member, a Deacon and was an Elder Emeritus. She was an avid bowler, collector of Hummel figurines and played the organ as hobby. She was well known for her sewing skills having sewn countless wedding gowns and prom gowns for young ladies throughout the valley for many years. She was a member of several card and bridge clubs and the Daughters of Rebekah’s.
She will be deeply missed by her sons Douglas W. Thomas and his wife Suzanne of Sevierville, TN, Donald B. Thomas and his wife Kathleen of Bradenton, FL; her daughter Dianne G. Martin and her husband Dwayne of Holmes Beach, FL; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; and a great-great grandson.
In addition to her husband, Gerry was preceded in death by her five brothers and two sisters.
Friends may call on March 2, 2018 from 5:00-7:00PM at the Sample-O’Donnell Funeral Home 555 East State Street Sharon, PA 16146.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday morning beginning at 11:00AM at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ 159 Tod Ave. Hermitage, PA 16148 with Rev. Glenn Sadler officiating.
Burial will take place next to her husband at Oakwood Cemetery.
