NILES – Marie Elena (Grimes) Plant passed away peacefully on Tuesday March 24, 2026, in her home.

She was born in Warren to the late Leslie Eugene Grimes and Amelia (Carl) Grimes on October 15, 1967. Marie was a 1986 graduate of Niles McKinley High School and married Joseph Byran Plant on November 19, 1994. Together they have two sons Jonah and Trevor Plant.

Marie worked at Macali’s Giant Eagle in Niles for over fourteen years as a meat wrapper prior to leaving 2021 due to her cancer diagnosis. She was a faithful and dedicated saint at Evening Light Apostolic Church where she taught Sunday School, Children’s Church, and led the Ladies Prayer Group. Marie loved the Lord, her family, and people in general.

She is survived by her husband Joseph Plant, her sons Jonah Plant of Niles and Trevor (Kaitlyn) Plant of Girard; her siblings Leslie Grimes of Warren, Wayne (Karen) Grimes of Niles, and Paul (Sue) Grimes of Boardman, as well as by many nieces and nephews.

Enjoy life and never get too old to jump in puddles, dance in the rain, swing on a swing, be silly, and love people. Life is too short for grudges.

A Celebration of Life service in her honor is being planned to be held at Evening Light Apostolic Church at a future date.
