SHARON- Robert “Bob” D. Dye age 86, of Sharon, PA passed away on the afternoon of Thursday July 30, 2026, at UPMC Jameson Hospital in New Castle, PA following a lengthy illness.

Bob was born May 5, 1940, in Sharon, Pennsylvania to the late Donald A. and Margaret (Cozadd) Dye.

He was a graduate of Sharon High School and served our county beginning in 1963 with the United States Army. While serving in Europe, he met and fell in love with a fellow soldier, the former Rita Galloway. Following his honorable discharge, they went on to marry on November 11, 1967. Together they have shared nearly sixty years of marriage and their three children Stephanie, Mark, and Diana.

Mr. Dye worked at Wheatland Tube Company as a slitter and in the roll shop from which he retired.

He was a member of the former Oakland Avenue United Methodist Church for many years.

Bob is survived by his beloved wife Rita; their children Stephanie McFarland of Statum, GA, Mark (Jennifer Lippard) Dye of Sharon, Diana Dye of Hermitage; nine grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren; and by his sisters Shirley Gagliardi of Sharon and Helen Kear of Hermitage; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00PM on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at Sample-O'Donnell Funeral Home, 555 East State Street, Sharon, PA. A funeral service will follow at 7:00PM.

A private burial will take place at Hillcrest Memorial Park.iHillcrest Memorial Park.

Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to St. Jude Medical Center, Shriners Children’s Hospital, or any cancer center.
