HERMITAGE - It is with sadness the family of Shirley Ann States age 93, of Hermitage wish to announce her passing from this life to the hands of her Lord and Savior on Monday July 20, 2026.

Shirley was the daughter of James and Emma Warner. Born in Nanty Glo Pennsylvania, she lived her life in Sharon, West Middlesex and Hermitage.

She retired from Packard electric after 27 years of service. She later worked for the Winner part-time for an additional 10 years.

Shirley had many friends and she was known as the sweetest, most genuine, loving friendliest person to know. She loved the Lord and it showed in her life and has belonged to Sharon Baptist Church for over 60 years.

Shirley was married to Glen States for over 50 years prior to his passing away on January 21, 1991. She had two sons Glen and Joseph States, Joseph is now deceased.

Shirley quit school at age 15 to raise her sister Nancy who was 18 months at the time of their mother’s passing. She was a mother to Nancy in all ways. Loving, understanding, generous, and interested in all that Nancy had to say. Nancy will be forever grateful to God for having Shirley raise her as her own. She also has two grandchildren Glenda (George) Porterfield and John (Lisa) Lehett and a great-grandson Tanner Lehett. 

The family would like to give praise, credit and thankfulness to Bill and Audrey Stinier for the wonderful job they have done in looking out for Shirley and her invalid son Glen for the past 8 months. They have given up many hours of their lives to taking care Shirley and Glen.

In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no services for her.
